To get the most accurate number of servings from your cake, use the cutting guide below. Serving counts are approximate and may vary slightly depending on how the cake is cut.
Wedding

Weddings, large events & smaller portions
Party
2" × 2"
Birthdays & standard dessert portions
Large Party
2" × 3"
Generous dessert portions
For the cleanest and most consistent portions, do not cut a round cake into traditional triangular wedges.
Start approximately 2" in from the outer edge and cut a straight line across the cake.
Remove this outer section and place it on a cutting board or plate.
Cut the section into your desired serving size: 1" × 2", 2" × 2", or 2" × 3".
Continue working around the cake in approximately 2" sections.
Cut the remaining center section into appropriately sized portions.
Tip: Wipe your knife between cuts for cleaner slices.
Square, sheet, and rectangle cakes are easiest to portion using a simple grid.
Cut the cake into rows based on your desired serving depth.
Cut across each row to create evenly sized portions.
Continue until the entire cake has been portioned.
Wedding — 1" × 2"
Cut approximately 2"-wide rows, then portion each row into 1"-wide slices.
Party — 2" × 2"
Cut into approximately 2" × 2" squares.
Large Party — 2" × 3"
Cut into approximately 2" × 3" portions.
Our 3-layer cakes are taller than standard 2-layer cakes and can provide additional servings when cut appropriately.
For smaller portions:
Cut a standard portion from the cake.
Lay the tall slice on its side.
Carefully cut the slice horizontally through the middle.
This creates two shorter individual servings from one tall slice.
This cutting method is especially helpful for larger events when you want to maximize the number of servings.
Please Note: Serving counts are estimates only. Actual yield will depend on the person cutting the cake and the portion size selected. Larger slices will result in fewer servings.
